Outsourcing your short videos means handing all or part of the chain to someone else: shooting, editing, captions, the post’s text, scheduling and publishing. The one link that cannot be handed off is your expertise, in your own words.
So the question is not “should I outsource?”, but “what, to whom, and how much of my time does it leave me?”.
Why outsource?
Because time is short, and not only for you. More than one small business in two, 56% to be exact, has an hour a day or less for all of its marketing, according to the Constant Contact survey of small businesses in 2024. A video a week, shot, edited and posted by hand, does not fit in that hour.
Outsourcing does not solve everything, though: some options take less of your time making videos, but more of it coordinating.
What can you outsource in a short video?
| Step | Can it be handed off? | What it takes |
|---|---|---|
| The topic | Partly | Someone who knows your trade, or real questions from clients |
| The shoot | Yes | That you still get in front of a camera, unless your calls are the material |
| The edit | Yes | Footage to edit |
| The captions | Yes | A check of names and technical terms |
| The post’s text | Yes | That you read it: it speaks in your name |
| Scheduling | Yes | That you approve the calendar |
| Publishing | Yes | Access to your account, or an app the network has approved |
| The expertise | No | You |
What cannot be outsourced?
Your voice, literally and figuratively. Someone can have you recite a script written by someone else: that is ghostwriting applied to video. It works for text, much less to camera, where a learned speech shows.
That is why we start from calls. On a call you recite nothing: you answer someone with a real problem, with a concrete example. We develop the idea in Document, don’t create.
Who should you hand your short videos to?
Four options, which do not take on the same steps:
- a freelance editor or videographer edits what you send them, or comes to film you. The right choice if you already have footage, or want an authored edit. Our comparison: Dailies Studio or a freelance video editor;
- a personal-branding agency takes everything in hand, strategy and posts included, and has you shoot in sessions. The right choice if you want to hand off everything. Our comparison: Dailies Studio or a personal-branding agency;
- a video production studio films you in good conditions, now and then. Our comparison: Dailies Studio or a video production studio;
- a studio subscription such as Dailies Studio draws your shorts from your calls and publishes them. We explain how a video studio subscription works.
For prices, we have gathered the public figures in How much does a video agency cost in 2026?.
How does Dailies Studio go about it?
Dailies Studio takes on the whole chain, except the expertise and the choosing:
- it records the calls you hold in Chrome, on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom, in English or French;
- it picks up to eight passages per call, 30 to 90 seconds long, that share real value;
- it edits them in vertical 9:16, cuts the silences and hesitations, and adds captions in your template, which the team builds from your brand’s files;
- it drafts three post texts for each network you pick, which you keep, edit or delete;
- it publishes each short on the day and at the time you scheduled, to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn and TikTok: one job, present everywhere.
What it does not do: plan your brand strategy, write posts without a video, reply to your comments, edit videos you already have.
What should you keep for yourself?
Even with everything that can be outsourced handed off, four things stay with you:
- holding your calls, which you do anyway;
- telling your guests the call is being recorded. Dailies Studio records from your browser, not with the platform’s own recorder: it is up to you to say so. We have written how to bring it up;
- choosing what goes out, short by short, and reading the text that speaks in your name;
- replying to comments, which are the conversation your videos start.
Questions to ask before you outsource
- Who films, and how much of your time does it take? One shooting session a month is still half a day without clients.
- Who chooses what gets posted? Nothing should go out without your approval.
- What happens to your recordings? At Dailies Studio, a call’s original files are deleted 10 days after it is processed, 15 at most, and no recording trains any model, ours or anyone else’s.
- What about your clients on screen? A switch blurs your guests and disguises their voices, on from the moment the account is created; a passage that shows them, lets them be heard or quotes them is posted only with their agreement.
- What does a short cost, and how long do you commit for? Dailies Studio is sold as a single plan with no meter on your calls or shorts: the pricing page is online.
Key takeaways
- Everything in a short video can be handed off, except your expertise.
- The options do not take on the same steps: compare what they leave you, not only their price.
- Starting from your calls removes the shoot, the step that costs the most time.
- Choosing, telling your guests and replying to comments stay with you.
The Dailies Studio pricing page is online, and the team can look at your calls with you in thirty minutes.
